Family Friendly
Easy loop trail with few hills or difficult spots. There is also the historic Batsto Village to check out before or after your hike.
Entrance fees per vehicle from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Overview
A moderate loop on the white-blazed Batsto trail with easy access from the Visitor Center.
Need to Know
The entrance to the trail is on the opposite side of the parking lot from the Batsto Visitor Center. There is a picnic area back there and the start to the trail is back behind that area. There are also a couple of other easier hikes that are only a mile or two long, and they start in the same spot.
Description
You start with a short hike to the
Batona Trail. You'll be surrounded by trees for a couple of miles. Follow the white blazes (which can be a little hard to see at times). About 2.5 miles in, you'll split from the
Batona Trail and hike along Batsto Lake. The trail gets a little narrow, and there can be prominent roots, so make sure you watch your footing.
There are a few spots along the trail to rest on a bench and enjoy the view of the lake.
A little bit after you merge with the Batsto
Blue Trail, you'll come to a service road. Go left to continue with the trail, or go right and walk through Batsto Village.
