This is pleasantly challenging, with lots of varied scenery and steps and handrails in the challenging areas.
Overview
This is a hike in the very popular Puçon area that's easily reachable via public transport. Both well traveled and well maintained, this trail offers a wide variety of scenery and some steep bits. Bring a pack lunch to eat by the lakes.
Description
Largely in the shade, this hike starts from the primary National Park Ranger Station, which is where the bus from Puçon drops hikers off. If you have a car, there is free parking available. Initially fairly flat, the trail passes refugios and campgrounds while initially hugging the shoreline of Lago Tinquilco. Once it leaves the lake, the grade becomes fairly steep, and in many places there are handrails and stairs. A park ranger station is part-way up, where public restrooms are available.
Flora & Fauna
Ancient monkey puzzle trees, the national tree of Chile, can be found in this area.
