Pedernales Falls State Park can close when it reaches capacity during nice weekends and holidays. Have a backup plan or be ready to wait.

Swimming and tubing is only allowed south of the group campground due to private property along the northern/eastern edge of the river between the falls and the group campground. However, there are a few trails that lead to nice swimming areas - such as this one. This is a spring fed river so the water is very cold, which can be very refreshing during the Texas summer heat!

This trail begins from a decent sized parking area and descends about 120 feet along a wide gravely trail. When you reach the river edge you can wade in right away or continue a short ways down stream. The trail continues informally all the way to the 5.5-Mile Loop trail at Trammell's Crossing.

Remember you have to climb back up from the river.
