The parking lot is very small. If it is full, there is optional streetside parking along fence.

The trail begins with a boardwalk in the maritime forest with beautiful Cyprus and other hardwood trees decorated in Spanish moss. About a tenth of a mile along the trail, the Overlook Trail heads west along a dirt path that leads to the intercoastal waterway and an overlook area (there is a view point here with a raised bench).

The main trail continues south splitting into a loop after another 0.1 mile. It leads to the canoe launch with access to the intercoastal waterway. You'll then loop back to the maritime forest, crossing a few boardwalks along the way. The trail rejoins itself after a total of 0.6 mile. It is about 0.2 mile back to the parking lot.

Cyprus trees, live oaks, saw palmetto, and Spanish moss. Bees, butterflies, songbirds, hawks and vultures were observed. There are also raccoon, snakes (eastern diamondback rattlesnake was listed), owls and bobcats in the area.
