Description
This is arguably the most interesting trail in the entire park. If you plan to hike the trail for the first time, I recommend you start at
Lost Creek and head south toward
Quartz Mine as the views are better in this direction.
The trail is well-maintained and fairly flat for the first three-quarters of the trek. It makes a healthy descent of about 400 feet as you get closer to
Quartz Mine. If you are heading north, you'll start this trail by making a nice uphill climb.
Regardless of the direction you travel, you'll be rewarded with some great views of the surrounding area. And since you are here anyway, a little side trip on
Crest Summit Trail is recommended to complete the experience.
Flora & Fauna
A variety of desert plants and cacti are plentiful. Watch for squirrels, rabbits, birds, and rattlesnakes.
