Description

The Tweetsie Trail traverses along a former ET&WNC railroad right-of-way between Johnson City and Elizabethton. It is the longest rails-to-trails project in Tennessee and connects downtown Johnson City to downtown Elizabethton. Using trail connectors on the Johnson City side, it provides access to other trails and can be a great way to get outside.

The trail surface consists of crushed gravel and is as wide as typical doubletrack trails. There are several stopping points along the trail that include historical sites, scenic farmlands, and Sycamore Shoals State Park. There are several road crossings on the trail where traffic lights exist so use caution. The grade is relatively gentle overall.
