This trail is for winter use only when snow covered.
Description
This trail starts from Junction O and heads northeast. The trail descends through a meadow and crosses a stream via a bridge. The trail then makes an immediate right turn after the bridge and then a left turn up to a small ridge. The trail goes for a ways, then turns right at an old barn (on the left) before descending moderately to Junction P.
Chimney Trail makes a sharp left turn and climbs steeply up to Route 153. The trail crosses the road and re-enters the woods. The trail begins to climb again as you pass an old cemetery (on the left). The trail reaches Burnham Road, follows it left for a short distance, then continues into the woods on the opposite side.
Here, the forest seems to change and becomes thicker. The trail reaches Junction X and turns right. It then climbs steadily to a split; left or right will still take you to the chimney. While this is a small hill, it still offers a nearly 360-degree view of the surrounding area. The chimney stack at the summit is a common destination for skiers and snowmobilers.
