Description

This track is made up of trails that have historically been legal but social trails. As this route became part of the Maricopa Trail, the trail names and signage has been formalized. In the past, I have only ever seen one sign for Twisted Sister at the junction of the Saguaro Trail where another sign points to the Mine Shaft. The last time I was out there, it had gotten a shiny new "Maricopa Trail" badge on it.

The desert out here is beautiful with plenty of plants and wildlife. This trail is near enough to the Wild Horse Trail that you may see some of the wild mustangs that give it its name. Some of the trail is flat, but the majority is rolling as it winds toward and skirts the mountain.

Flora & Fauna

Typical Sonoran desert plants and animals (including coyotes and rattlesnakes) can be found here. If you're lucky, you might even see wild mustangs!

Normally, I don't think signs are interesting, but this one is handmade :)
