Description
From the Fish Lake Trailhead, this trail follows Fish Lake Creek and then climbs gradually to Beaver Swamp and the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness boundary, 2.3 miles from the trailhead.
The #1570 then continues past the junction with
Beaver Swamp Trail #1569 (a shorter hike to Fish Lake when Forest Road 2840 is open) for a short distance to Fish Lake and a junction with the Indian Trail #1573. The #1570 continues on around the lake's northwest shore and begins ascending along Highrock Creek.
At 5 miles from the trailhead, The Fish Lake Trail #1570 passes a junction with
Lakes Trail #1578 just before it leaves the creek and enters scattered trees and large meadows typical of the higher areas of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide. Lush summer vegetation in Highrock Meadow (7.5 miles from the trailhead) can obscure the trail, so pay attention. If you lose the trail, look for it to the north along the edge of the forest.
Past Highrock Meadows, the #1570 makes a short, fairly steep climb up to its terminus at a junction with the
Rogue-Umpqua Divide Trail #1470.
