Description

Starting from the kiosk at Snowmobile Junction T, the trail climbs steeply west (just to the left of the kiosk) to the summit of Mary's Mountain. Here, there are excellent views southward.

The trail descends loosely following the edge of the rocky outcrop. As the trail descends, it passes a small connector trail (on the left) that connects you to the snowmobile trail under the same name (Mary's Mountain Trail). The trail hits a dip, then climbs up another small ridge. Hikers will soon reach an intersection, and this is where the trail technically ends. You can retrace your steps, or take a sharp left turn to descend to the road on the Jackman Ridge Trail. Be aware that taking the Jackman Ridge Trail will not take you back to your vehicle—you'll need to hike quite a ways on Shawtown Road to get back to your original trailhead.

This seems to be the only trail in the Freedom Town Forest that is solely for foot traffic and not shared with the snowmobiles.

Flora & Fauna

Wintergreen, beech, Eastern hemlock, white birch, hawks, grouse, and moose tracks can all be found here.
