Description

This is the quickest, most direct, and most commonly used route to access the lower arboretum trails from the main parking lot on Monongahela Avenue. Because it consists of hard-packed gravel, this doubletrack trail is typically drier than other arboretum trails. However, the grade is very steep, making the uphill particularly taxing. Providing a direct connection with the Caperton Rail-Trail, the Service Road is the only trail in the arboretum that allows bicycles and is often used as a connector by commuters.
