Dogs Leashed
Description
You can easily access the middle of this trail from the Gupabal metro stop (orange/3 line) by continuing north a short distance from the station. The "river" that the path follows along an elevated wall isn't exactly spectacular, but the pathway does offer decent views of Bukhansan National Park. The real highlight of this path is what Korea has done with a line of military fortifications built fairly recently along the river. These heavily reinforced bunkers have been integrated into the landscaping in a surprisingly aesthetically pleasing way: they have art integrated into the backs of some; some have nice wood paneling and benches to rest in; and others are closed off with reflective paneling. From the north they appear as dirt mounds covered in flowers and local flora.
The west end of this trail crosses Highway 1 (without great pedestrian markings), goes under another bridge, over a narrow bridge, and dead ends on a high bank a little further along. You can pick up other trails that follow the river farther west, and may want to before crossing Hwy 1 as the trail isn't great farther to the west. The east end of the trail ends largely because the road and river get too close, but you can continue along a sidewalk to one of the entrances to Bukhansan National Park.
