This trail is for winter use only when snow covered.

Description

This trail starts at Junction 15 and climbs left up the hill. The trail reaches Great Hill Road and turns left onto it. The trail climbs gradually, then turns left uphill at an orange gate. The trail turns right at an abandoned boy scout building and climbs to the tower. From the tower, going northeast will take you onto the Peg King Spur Trail to the Big Pines Natural Area.

The tower offers many excellent views with placards that detail the many different mountain peaks. For the complete Firetower Loop, head back down the same trail and take a left at the boy scout building, heading towards the Firetower Extension, and then take a right onto the Hemenway Trail. Continue straight instead of right again. The trail follows Great Hill Road to an intersection at Hemenway Road (on right). Follow Hemenway Road right back to Junction 15.
