This is a popular trail for mountain bikers, be alert as you hike.

Description

Upper Raven, or Upper Geriatrics as it's know locally, was expanded in 2017 and now completes a loop of sorts. The singletrack can be taken in either direction and can also be entered at two different spots from Lower Raven #121 (Lower Geriatrics).

If you start with the southern end, you'll go through a steady climb all the way to the top. Hikers will be rewarded with winding descents after crossing over Fuel Road. Many local's prefer to approach from the north (as mapped). After turning onto the trail you'll go through a steeper climb that gets a bit steeper right at the top. Head over Fuel Road to enjoy a nice descent with a few sections of climbing sprinkled in for good fun. Once you near the end, you'll cross over Fuel Road again before ending at Lower Raven #121.

If you did hike this counter-clockwise, the turn to the left at the end would complete a loop back to where you started. Turning to the right will quickly head down past the pedestrian-only Fitness Trail #90 to end at the parking area. This trail is a little rocky in places so you may have to slow down and watch your footing.

If it's your first time hiking the trail, take a few moments to enjoy the views as you reach the top as it has some of the best views of Sierra Blanca. Enjoy!
