Family Friendly Easy and short.

Hunting takes place all year round, and according to the Allegan State Game Area staff, there is no reason to stay away from the Allegan State Game Area just because of hunting season. It is a safe place to enjoy the forest activities year round, excluding November 15-November 30, which is White-tail Deer rifle season.

Description

The trail around Ely Lake is approximately one mile in length with occasional views of the lake at various pointsalong the entire loop. There is a possibility of logs over the trail, but you should have no problem hopping over them or moving them out of the way.

The trails around Ely Lake Campground are open year round. In the shoulder seasons, especially the spring, the trails can get damp and even muddy in places.

There is a campground, restrooms, a picnic area, and even a swimming spot in the lake.

Flora & Fauna

Bobolink, Canada Geese, Cottontail Rabbit, Eastern Wild Turkey, Karner Blue Butterfly, Mallard, Ruffed Grouse, Ring-necked Pheasant, White-tailed Deer, and Wood Duck are species in the area.
