Description

On this easy loop trail on the north end of Canaan Valley, hike through wetlands characteristic of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge and enjoy southbound views of the lower portions of Canaan Valley. This trail extends off the south side of the Brown Mountain Trail. Once in the valley, the trail is fairly exposed as you enter an environment of grasses, shrubs, and scattered woodlands. Be prepared to get muddy, especially after a rain—the "sods" soils of the valley hold a lot of water.
