Overall, this is a pretty mellow trail through the forest with lots to see and explore along the way.
This trail is open from sunrise to sunset.
Description
You'll find the trailhead for the Woods Road Trail Alternate at the parking lot at Loch Raven and Providence Roads. This trail is primarily through the forest, although there are still a number of nice viewpoints, particularly in the winter when the leaves are down.
The start of the trail is relatively flat and runs along Providence Road. It then winds through the forest, providing a serene and quiet singletrack hike. There are some rolling hills with rocks and roots to step over and around, so watch your footing. You occasionally join the
Glen Ellen Trail, which is identifiable as a doubletrack fire road. The trail is well marked and there are a number of opportunities to connect to the
Woods Road Trail to get a closer look at the reservoir, and to make a loop rather than an out and back.
