Description
This is a fairly new trail, as it was finished in late Spring 2017. It was built as a mountain bike trail but works as a foot trail too. It starts at the junction of Secret Place Road and
Ridge Road—two dirt roads at the southern end of Las Posadas State Park. From there, it essentially follows the Moore Creek drainage down to a junction with the
Moore Creek Trail.
The trail is well constructed, wide, with reasonable grades. It does (at present) cross Moore Creek two times and there are no bridges, just wooden beams or a hop across or a ford. These crossings might be tricky if you were hiking during a high water event.
The trail descends for one mile from the road junction to a crossing of Moore Creek, then follows along above the creek before climbing through some switchbacks to a broad ridge. It then contours along the ridge before descending, through more switchbacks, to its end just before a second crossing of Moore Creek, 3.3 miles from the start. The
Moore Creek Trail is just on the other side of the creek, at the Top Secret Swimming Hole, from the end of Dan's Wild Ride.
