“A short rocky section that offers a good hike in either direction.
”
From the D&D trailhead (boat ramp) heading west, the trail starts next to the pit toilet. At first, you are pointed toward the lake, but it quickly makes a sharp right. After the turn, you get into somewhat of a rocky section. After the first road crossing, the trail widens as it continues to climb. Once you reach a switchback, the trail steepens for a short bit, and then flattens out. A little further and you'll cross another road.
Next there is a narrow section of stair-stepped rocks with a switchback at the bottom. The rest of the trail is similar to the first rocky section, but a bit longer. Once again you'll come to a road crossing. The nice thing about all of the road crossings is there are several bail-out points if you would like to head to the main road.
At the next road crossing, the trail continues west through a noticeably more sandy area.
