Description

The Upper and Lower Wright Lakes sit beneath Boulder Peak high in the Marble Mountain Wilderness. They can be approached from different directions but the most direct approach is via the Boulder Creek Trail #5534 starting from the Boulder Creek Trailhead then connecting to Wright Lakes Trail #5537 to reach the lakes. There is room at this trailhead for several vehicles and it is accessible to low clearance vehicles, but there are no amenities here.

The #5534 leaves the trailhead and just starts climbing gaining over 2,500 feet along the length of the trail. You’ll soon cross an old logging road, and in about a mile, after several switchbacks, connect with another old logging road that you’ll follow for a mile or so until the trail resumes. More switchbacks and some contouring bring you to the top of the ridge just south of Point 6363.

You’ll now enjoy a short stretch of level trail to the signed junction with both the Deep Lake Trail #5535 and the Wright Lakes Trail #5537, about 3.5 miles from the trailhead. Use the Wright Lakes Trail #5537 to continue on to the Upper and Lower Wright Lakes.

Good hike. Up hill the entire way, sometimes steeply without any level or downhill areas at all.
