Description
The trail begins from the signed parking area just below Marks Butte off Freezeout Rd. In just over a mile you'll reach the junction with Gold Center Creek - Trail #251. Continue on 275 and after approx. 3/4 of a mile you'll meet another junction (signed).
Stay on 275, which begins to climb steeply towards Grandmother Mountain. In approx. another 3/4 mile you meet the summit spur for Grandmother Mountain. 275 will begin to go down from here towards the saddle with Grandfather Mountain. Take the spur up and enjoy the views from atop Grandmother Mountain.
After returning back down from the summit spur, the trail drops down to a saddle between Grandmother and Grandfather Mountain. The trail between the two is regarded as the least interesting part of the trail and the final uphill to Grandfather is very steep, rocky and rutted. The views are better from Grandmother because it has fewer trees and is, in fact, a bit higher in elevation, which makes the traverse over to Grandfather a worthy extension for those who want to finish the full trail, but not for those who are only seeking the better view.
The trail ends at a benchmark just past Grandfather. From there you'll simply retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
