Description
This is a mostly easy trail and is quite busy many months of the year. If you want to avoid some of the crowds on the trail there are other easy open trails or fields very close by.
Though the Escarpment Trail extends east to the Green House, most people park at the overlook parking area and head northwest along this trail. From the parking area, follow the wooden fence the whole way to stay on trail. There is one section that could be considered Intermediate/Expert since its steep and rocky, but it is easily avoided.
The views are great all along the escarpment and on a clear day you can even see some of the bigger buildings in Albany, which is 15-20 miles away! There are many places to stop and picnic or park along the trail making this an enjoyable hike for folks of all ages.
This is a must see in the Fall for leaf peeping!
The trail connects to the Indian Ladder Trail which has a waterfall and is even more popular.
