Description
The Purser-Hulsey Park Trail opened in mid-2017 with a roughly 1.5-mile main trail. Since then, a couple of side loops -
Enchanted Forest (~0.5mi) and Backside Loop (~3mi) - have been added increasing the potential total mileage to about 4.5 miles.
The trailhead is off of Phillips Road at trail kiosk to the back of the parking lot - the community garden is very noticable from the road. It's multi-use with bikers & walkers/runners, with recommendation to traverse in opposite directions for safety.
The trail is beginner friendly with minimal elevation change and opportunities to shorten distance even from the 1.5-mile main loop. Also, there are seating benches at points along the main loop providing an opportunity to rest and sit in natural setting.
The natural undulation of some of the drainage ravines adds a little fun to the hike.
It should also be noted that the trail is maintained by the Tarheel Trailblazers Mountain Bike Club -

The community of visitors have taken things a step further with painted rocks - visitors are encouraged to find and move the rocks along the trail and even to bring in your own painted rock.
