Description

The Ruins Trail starts at a intersection off the Kiepersol Trail, heading northeast into the mountainous area with very steep ascents and gentle descents that are etched into the mountain with stone and gumpole steps. The starting ascent is very demanding but once you reach the highest point, the rest of the trail gently climbs and descends on a dirt path with scattered stones until you reach the endpoint where the trail intersects with the Beacon Trail.

Flora & Fauna

The reserve is home to approximately 215 bird species, which include Barbet's, Swifts, Swallows, Crows and Doves, and 9 large mammal species which include Zebra's, Black Wildebeest, Blesbok, Springbok and Red Hartebeest. There is also an assortment of insect life, which includes various butterflies, geckos and lizards. Smaller mammals in the reserve include Klip Dassies.
