The road is usually closed by snow from November to June. Note that if you leave the road here, you'll be in the Badger Creek Wilderness and the usual wilderness regulations and restrictions will then apply.

Description

If you've made your way to the Badger Creek Cutoff Trail #477, Divide Trail #458, Tygh Creek Trail #460, and Little Badger Trail #469 junction on Forest Road 2730-200, it's worth the extra effort to go an extra 1.5 miles (roundtrip) to see the still operational lookout at the end of Flag Point.

The lookout is usually staffed during the summer months and, if so, you can ask the lookout if it's all right to climb up to get an amazing 360-degree view. The view of Mount Hood alone is worth the extra effort!
