The usual federal wilderness area regulations and restrictions apply here. A wilderness permit is required to enter a Wilderness on the Mt. Hood National Forest between May 15 and October 15. Practice Leave No Trace (LNT) backcountry skills and ethics. Camp 100 feet from fragile areas; bury human waste at least 200 feet from water, trails, and campsites. This trail is usually covered by snow from November to June.

Description

The #469 starts at Forest Road 2710 and stays close to Little Badger Creek as it climbs gently through a mix of oak thickets, maples, and conifers to reach now collapsed Kinzel Cabin in 3.2 miles. There is a campsite at the cabin. Past the cabin, the #469 climbs steeply for 0.6 miles to a junction with the School Canyon Trail #468.

From here, the trail climbs more gradually westward, passing a junction with the Tygh Creek Way Trail #460A about 5.4 miles from the road. In another 0.3 miles or so, you’ll pass a vague junction (around 5,040 feet) with the now abandoned Gordon Butte Trail #470A, beyond which are two campsites. The #469 then continues for 1.3 miles to end at Forest Road 2730-200 near junctions with the Divide Trail #458, the Badger Creek Cutoff Trail #477, and the Tygh Creek Trail #460. These trails can be used to form various loops and backpacking trips in this wilderness.
