The usual federal wilderness area regulations and restrictions apply here. A wilderness permit is required to enter a Wilderness on the Mt. Hood National Forest between May 15 and October 15. Practice Leave No Trace (LNT) backcountry skills and ethics. Camp 100 feet from fragile areas; bury human waste at least 200 feet from water, trails, and campsites. This trail is usually covered by snow from October to June.

Description

This trail basically serves as a connector between Forest Road 2730-200 and Badger Creek. There are some views of Mount Hood from along this trail. From road access at Forest Road 2730-200 (the Flag Point Road), the #477 descends 3.2 miles to its end at Badger Creek Trail #479. From here, you can hike the Badger Creek Trail #479 northwest to Badger Lake or descend southeast towards Post Camp Trail #467. The #477 can also be used with the Divide Trail #458 to form loop trips over Lookout Mountain.

Note that this trail no longer follows the alignment below Tolo Creek shown on the USGS and USFS maps.

Hiked down, decent grade, very dry. Frequent fallen trees, overgrown bushes requiring scrambling and hiking around obstacles. 3.3mi
