Description
Begin at the trailhead just past the Timon Campground. Go through a gate and head to the right along a babbling brook in a narrow valley. You'll enjoy level hiking until you come to a left turn over a bridge, just before getting onto Tinton Road. The trail heads uphill along the road, through pine trees before heading left through a draw on switchbacks and aspens.
The trail crests the climb on a plateau with some nice views before heading back down with some switchbacks. During this portion, you'll encounter some logging remains, but the trail has been well marked and is easy to follow. Continue down through slightly steeper terrain before crossing a small bridge.
You'll now cross the road to your right where there is a small parking area where the trail continues on the left. Follow the undulating stream-side section until you have to cross the stream and road again. The trail contours the hillside and passes the campground on your right, before crossing a bridge and finishing at the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
This loop is especially nice in the fall as there are abundant aspen and birch. Pines dominate with cool, mossy draws and stream sides, and more open dry plateaus. Abundant deer, turkey, and birds, with the opportunity for elk and mountain lion.
