Dogs Leashed

Family Friendly The island is accessible and provides a lot of Dutch history.

The island is open and free during off peak seasons, but costs $10/adult and $5/child during peak seasons.

Description

Windmill Island Gardens in Holland Michigan is a tribute to all things Dutch. The island itself explodes into vibrant colors during spring time when about 100,000 tulips are in bloom. The island also has a 250-year-old functioning windmill that was brought to Michigan from the Netherlands called "De Zwaan". De Zwaan is accessible during the peak seasons when the park is filled with guides dressed historically. You can even buy flour milled at the windmill.

This path is fully accessible, but the upper levels of the windmill are not. You'll have to take the Windmill Island Loop a short distance from the bridges.
