The usual federal wilderness area regulations and restrictions apply here. There may also be additional wilderness-specific restrictions in force; check with the district office if in doubt. Practice Leave No Trace (LNT) backcountry skills and ethics. Camp 100 feet from fragile areas; bury human waste at least 200 feet from water, trails, and campsites. This trail is usually closed by snow from November to June.

Description

From the Thomas Lake Trailhead, beginning along Forest Road 65, this trail climbs gently through a dense forest, coming to Dee, Thomas, and Heather Lakes at approximately 0.6 mile. Past these lakes, the continues climbing to a meadow, then continues past Brader Lake and Naha Lake to Rock Lake and Little Rock Lake. Here it turns south and passes Lake Umtux, then continues through a broad plateau meadow, past numerous unnamed ponds and tiny lakes. After crossing the meadow, the trail descends into the timber, passing Lake Sahalee Tyee, and ends at a junction with the Pacific Crest Trail at the northeast end of Blue Lake. Although plagued by mosquitos during high summer, this area is wonderful in the Fall when the bugs are gone, the colors are bursting, and huckleberries can be found along the trail.
