Description

This rail-trail stretches from Ashland, Maryland north to the Maryland-Pennsylvania line, passing through many historic communities and quaint towns. This is a classic rail trail, with primarily wide paths, although there are a few sections where it narrows.

There's not much elevation gain and the trail is generally easy except for the length. It's a very scenic hike along the Big Gunpowder Falls, with frequent viewing areas, bathrooms, park benches and picnic areas. There are also many historic railroad signs and markers along the way.
