Description
Smith Ravine Trail #297 is nicely shaded as it passes through oak and ponderosa pine forest. The trail rolls up and down as it gradually climbs from an elevation of roughly 6,000 feet at one end, to nearly 7,000 feet at the other. About halfway along the route, this trail crosses Smith Ravine Spring. The spring may be flowing during certain times of the year, evidenced by the presence of yellow columbine and other water-loving plants. As the trail ascends into the Bradshaw Mountains, there are occasional views of the Lynx Creek drainage area to the north and east, and Spruce Mountain Lookout to the south.
