Family Friendly The path is wide and paved; it is easy for a family to get out of the city and into a secluded park here.

Description

This is an easy trail made of wide pavement that begins from a small secondary parking area off of Orange Grove Drive. The parking area is basically just a dirt spot next to the road that can hold a few cars. The trail heads south through a dense old forest that is trimmed back from the path a decent distance, but not so far that there isn't any shade. The path winds as it goes though the forest making it feel more secluded. The path turns west after about a quarter of a mile. It skirts the edge of the forest as the southern edge has been cleared for a dirt section of Mt. Houston Road that is closed to cars. The tall trees still provide shade along this section. Finally, the trail exits the forest into the large groomed meadow that surrounds the central pond in the park.
