Overview
This nice hike rewards tough scrambling and steep, long uphills with a generous view from the top of Bearhead Mountain. From the summit, be sure to snap photos of Rainier in all its majestic glory, especially when under a light cloud cover.
Need to Know
The road to the trailhead can be a little rough, so take it easy and bring your high-clearance vehicle if you have one.
Description
This moderate hike sports consistent grades the whole way. While there are beautiful views at the top on clear days, you can still get an interesting glimpse of Rainier when it's slightly overcast.
Overall, the trails this hike uses are rocky and have lots of roots. Once you reach the top, you can stay on the ridge of the mountain and hike south for a small extension.
For an easier hike, consider Summit Lake. It shares the first mile of the hike with this one but is less steep.
