Much of Dome Rock State Wildlife Area closes during the spring for the bighorn sheep calving season from December 1 through July 15.

Description

This trail begins from Willow Creek Trail at a shared intersection with the Dome Rock Overlook Trail. You'll have to follow the 4x4 road/Willow Creek Trail a little to get to it, or you can reach the lower end of the trail from Dome Rock Trail.

This trail follows its namesake creek down a mountainous valley. Much of the valley is wooded, but there are also many points where the trail enters open meadows that provide better views of the surrounding low mountains.

After about 2 miles, you should be able to see Dome Rock, a large, dome-shaped granite rock that towers above the river valley. Eventually, you'll reach where Spring Creek ends by joining Four Mile Creek. On the other side of Four Mile Creek, the trail becomes Dome Rock Trail. If you plan on treating this trail as an out-and-back to Dome Rock, be mindful that it drops about 1000 feet.
