Description

This trail begins from a parking area just off of Teller County Road 61. The trail almost immediately crosses Four Mile Creek for the first of many times. There was a small log bridge built last time I was there at the first crossing, but subsequent crossings required fording the creek.

For the rest of the trail's length, it will follow Four Mile Creek, allowing you continuous access to water. Parts of the trail are buried in dense, knotty oak that obscures views, but most of the trail passes through the river meadows. This means the trail offers nice views of the surrounding low mountains and granite rock formations. It also means parts of it can be slightly overgrown with grass.

At about 3.3 miles, you'll start getting great views of Dome Rock, a very large dome shaped granite formation and namesake of the trail/region. The trail basically becomes Spring Creek Trail on the west side of Dome Rock.
