Description

At mile 7.8 of the Monarch Crest Trail, Agate Creek Trail #484 descends westward, and an extension climbs up to the ridgeline a few hundred feet higher. Over the ridge, the Little Cochetopa Trail descends into the valley.

After less than a mile, the trail fades and wayfinding begins. You may want to use the Hiking Project mobile app to help find your way. The trail generally runs along the north side of the river. With other excellent choices of singletrack in the area, this trail is more of a bail-out option from the Crest.

After four miles, the singletrack meets a rough four-wheel drive dirt road. This continues to descend to the trailhead just after seven miles. From here, the you can descends FS210 all the way to Highway 50.
