Description

Bear Paw Loop, part of the fantastic Tanasi Trail System, begins and ends at the western end of the foot/bike bridge that crosses the Ocoee River at the Ocoee Whitewater Center.

Hikers begin by climbing steep, somewhat rooty and rocky singletrack for 0.4 miles to the beginning of the loop. The loop can be done either clockwise or counterclockwise. After the approximately one mile loop, you'll reconnect with the starting singletrack and can descend back to the foot/bike bridge.

About 0.7 miles after starting the loop, if hiking counter-clockwise (0.3 miles if hiking clockwise), you'll reach the start of Chestnut Mountain Loop Trail. Significantly longer hikes await you if you beyond that intersection.

The loop overlooks the most famous rapids of the Ocoee River.
