Description
The trail ascends steadily to gain around 700 feet of elevation within the first couple miles, heading through swaths of pinyon pine woodland and Arizona chaparral bush. Near the two-mile mark, the trail continues along the ridge of the Cerbat Mountains, with magnificent 360-degree views of the Black Mountains to the west, and the Music Mountains to the east.
As it continues to climb, the trail joins a seldom-used jeep road after a quarter mile. The trail follows the jeep road for a hundred yards below the Cherum Peak summit. Continuing on, the trail narrows back into singletrack towards the summit.
