Description
The trail begins by crossing to the west bank of the Current River on the Highway 106 bridge. It then turns south, continuing along the river for around two miles. From that point, it heads up Indian Creek, crosses a saddle at the south end of Barnett Mountain, and descends to Rocky Creek.
The trail heads by a beautiful shut-ins area between Buzzard Mountain and Mill Mountain before turning toward Stegall Mountain. Glades atop Stegall Mountain provide beautiful, open views of the Ozark landscape. From Stegall Mountain, the trail continues southeast through the Peck Ranch Wildlife Area toward Highway 60 and the northern end of the Ozark Trail: Between the Rivers Section southwest of Van Buren.
