Description

The Hemlock Gorge Trail is a looped trail. Several highlights include a small waterfall and the Hoffmanville Cemetery with gravestones dating back to the 1700's. The out-and-back section of the trail is on an old fire road, as well as the eastern portion of the lollipop loop. As soon as you hit the southern point of the lollipop loop, the trail changes to singletrack and gets technical.

As you follow the Gunpowder Falls stream back north, you'll pop back on the road to a small parking area and then continue back on the northwest section of the lollipop loop that will put you back out at the cemetery. From here, take the fire road back to your original start point. The trail near the water can be slippery with wet roots and rocks, so please watch your footing.

Not marked well. Few water crossings but didn't have to. Only saw 4 other groups of people the whole time. Worth the trip. 2.6mi — 3h 00m
