Description

This trail presents a steady climb up to the crest of the Manzano Mountains. There are many very nice vistas along the way and pretty good fall colors. At times, the trail can be a bit overgrown and isn't apparent, but there is occasionally neon tape in the trees marking the trail at higher elevations where the terrain opens up. The trail starts with a pretty rocky and somewhat steep tread.

Toward the crest, there are several sections with no trees, just some scrub brush and grass. Once at the top, there are some really good views to the west and east, with 2 peaks looming to the north and the Sandia Mountains in the distance.

Flora & Fauna

Lots of trees can be found here including pine, maple, and oak. There was a cow on top of the crest, which seemed out of place. Numerous scat piles were found along and near the trail; raccoon, deer, and probably bobcat.
