The trail follows the ridgeline for the first half mile and offers stunning views across San Ramon towards Mount Diablo. Keep right to stay within the park as the trail slowly descends. At 1.0 mile, you'll reach a water tank and briefly hike over an unmaintained paved road. Cross the cattle gate and keep left to stay on the trail as it begins to descend more steeply now. You'll encounter yet another cattle gate before the trail reaches the edge of San Ramon again.
