Need to Know

Parking is available at the upper lot on Mt Elmore Road, not Beach Road.

Description

The trail begins climbing immediately up rocky and rooty terrain through open forest. The trail is a continuous gradual climb until the final ascent begins with a series of rock stair ledges that should be navigated with caution as it is quite steep and gets slippery when wet.

After the first steep incline, there is a scenic overlook at the site of a former cabin. The foundation still remains.

The remainder of the trail is a steep climb until the Ridge Trail junction. The fire tower is not far from the junction.

You can climb the tower to gain 360-degree panoramic views of Elmore Lake, Mansfield, and a portion of the C.C. Putnam State Forest.
