Description

This short stretch of singletrack trail connects the Woodhaul Wagon Road Trail #55 to the Sawmill Wagon Road Trail #243. Accessing the Big Tree Trail can be started at one of three parking areas in the Arenas/Fort Bayard National Recreational Trails area. A recommended route that allows for a comprehensive tour of this area includes the Big Tree Loop.

Be on the lookout for bikers, hikers and horseback riders. There are a couple of typically dry creek crossings and several small areas along this trail that are more technical. Using the Forest Service Nursery #757 trail to access Big Tree or other trails in this network will not present with as much technical terrain.
