Description

Begin at the Arenas Valley Trails parking area and follow the road until it merges with Fort Bayard proper. The road is an old, paved two-lane highway, but it has been closed to motorised vehicles for many years. The trail contains many areas of small bumps, gravel and deteriorated blacktop. There are concrete vehicle barriers that block the road near the Fort Bayard side of the road, but hikers can still use the road.
