Description
This trail (marked #1 on the MD DRN map) spans the length of the park from north to south. From the north, the trail starts from a cul-de-sac at the end of the parking area at North East Beach Road. The trail is marked with plastic posts with the name of the trail printed on a red square background.
This trail has many twists and turns. Many of them are close together and really don't make much sense. As you approach the first viewpoint of Chesapeake Bay, there is a tight series of long switchbacks. Soon after, is the second viewpoint and after that, the trail enters the forest and winds through an eerie section of grass and vines.
The trail crosses Turkey Point Road and traverses the road for about one mile. The trail turns left, and you'll pass several connector trails that would take you to the
Beaver Marsh Loop. The trail ends at a connector path from the southern parking lot.
