Barney Ford Trail

Barney Ford Trail runs from Moonstone Road to Sallie Barber Road, parallel to Baldy Road. Access the trail from the top of the Moonstone Trail, or Sallie Barber Road off of Baldy Road. The trail can also be accessed from the Juniata Trail, or V3 Trail.

From town, climb the Carter Park Switchbacks, Hermit Placer Trail, or Jack's Cruel Joke to the Moonstone Trail, then climb Moonstone Trail to Moonstone Road. Cross the road to the start of Barney Ford.

There is an immediate junction east of Moonstone Road. Take the left fork and climb through a forested area prior to entering a clear cut. At the upper end of the clear cut there is another junction. The right leads to Baldy Road and the Juniata Trail, the left is a continuation of Barney Ford.

Take a left. The trail descends briefly, climbs to a bench, descends again through a tailings then climbs to a junction with V3 Trail. Switchback right at this junction.

From this point the trail climbs continuously through a number of switchbacks to Sallie Barber Road. Just before Sallie Barber Road, Barney Ford Trail reaches another three-way junction.

The left option continues to Sallie Barber Road. Juniata Trail can be accessed to the right.

Barney Ford Trail is also and excellent downhill trail.
