Closed when wet, but this trail drains well.

Description

This trail begins across from the Park Office on Highway 227 and encircles Ellenburg Mountain. Featuring old home sites, this trail was a 1980 YACC project. The Tom Bevill Trail also intersects with the Cave Trail, the Spring Trail, and the Cutchenmine Trail connector.

The longest section of trail with no intersection is between the main connector to HWY 227 at the Park Office and the Cave Trail, at two miles. However, this section offers the best views of Lake Guntersville and is also the easiest portion of the trail. There are two switchbacks and a few climbs, but the trail is relatively smooth here.

After the Cave Trail and Spring Trail intersections, the trail becomes more technical. There are a number of climbs and the trail forks about 0.4 mile from the Cave Trail and Spring Trail intersection. The left fork is better suited for a mellow hike because of its lower grade and greater length (this is the mapped fork), but it rejoins the right fork after about 0.75 mile. You'll then have an intersection with the Cutchenmine Trail Connector before returning back to the intersection with the main Tom Bevill Trail Connector back down the hill to the Park Office.
