Description
While you'd never know it driving past the pulloff for this trail on an otherwise-typical country road in Central New York, this trail leads you a short distance to one of the most beautiful and unique waterfalls in the region. Tinker Falls is fantastic in any season, as the warmer months bring cascading water and beautiful leaf-filtered sunlight, and the winter brings continual construction of an amphitheater of ice (bring your camera)!
From the pull-offs on each side of the road, pass a kiosk to follow the creek past gorgeous hardwood forests. The trail climbs along its length, although you'll be so flush with anticipation to reach the falls that you'll hardly notice it.
Upon reaching an opening in the forest, enjoy the gorgeous Tinker Falls as it flows in a curtain of water (or ice) in front of you. Those who'd like to, can easily climb the scree at the base of the falls to reach the cave behind and enjoy a different perspective.
When you've had your fill of the falls, simply return the way you came, or continue up the hillside left of the falls to reach a junction with the regional Finger Lakes Trail.
